The Helpdesk Support Technician will work under the direction of the Sr.
IT Support Technician, who are the go-to people for providing technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, and software.
They are responsible for answering queries and addressing system and user issues in a timely and professional manner.
Help desk support works with the IT team and will often interact with system and computer users across the company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, along with other duties as assigned:
Provide telephone support for incoming calls.
Perform administrative tasks or duties as assigned.
Provide first level computer support for all Smead employees.
Perform project tasks for projects that come into the helpdesk as assigned.
Provide first level computer support through the various roles in the help desk department.
Update and maintain the daily problem tracking system.
Assist end-users with hardware and software operation by providing one-on-one training or troubleshooting problems.
Assist end-users in preparing hardware and software request documentation and ensure that appropriate approvals are obtained.
Through the helpdesk support process, interact with all levels of the Company (including Branch locations), and with outside vendors.
Communicate effectively, both in writing and orally, with IT staff regarding user problems.
Notify appropriate personnel of any problem not immediately resolved.
Follow the problem escalation process to level-2 support.
Keep abreast of technical changes in hardware and software by attending training and by studying vendor technical documentation, educational materials, and industry publications to enhance technical skills.
Perform tasks in support of projects that come into the helpdesk when needed.
Act as the control point for security access request to Company computer systems.
Education/
Experience:
High school diploma, and Experience in a help desk role.
Experience in a large multi-location environment.
The ability to work effectively with others, as well as independently, to ensure timely work completion.
Experience or technical training in personal computers and associated peripheral.
The ability to read and understand technical documentation.
SKILLS Proven customer service skills.
Proven troubleshooting skills.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
CONTACT OUTSIDE OF DEPARTMENT OR PLANT All departments (including remote branch locations) to assist computer system users with any problems that may occur.
Computer vendors and technical support persons outside Smead.
Working Environment:
Inside (sheltered) 100% Outside work 0% Travel required 30% Travel to other facilities as needed.
Travel once a quarter to corporate office in Minnesota for meetings and training (if residing in Logan, Ohio) MACHINERY AND EQUIPMENT USED Personal computers and all associated peripheral equipment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Lift or move computer related equipment, up to 50 pounds.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
